Turn 3 Motorsport/Eastern Racing Gains Three Podium Finishes at Sonoma Raceway

Sonoma, Calif – Turn 3 Motorsport/Eastern Racing gained three podium finishes with drivers Eric Wagner and Antoine Comeau during this weekend’s penultimate round of the Blue Marble Cocktails Radical Cup at Sonoma Raceway. The valuable race points helped the team maintain their lead in both the 1340 and 1500 class driver championships as they look toward the final race of the season at Circuit of the Americas in November.

For Race 1, Antoine Comeau qualified his #10 T3M/ACR SR3 1500 Radical in a second place starting position. Comeau lost a position at the start of the race, falling back to third, and pushed to get to the front of the field during the 40-minute run. Near the end of the race, Comeau had contact with another car and fell back, resulting in a ninth place finish.

Despite a challenging run in the first race, Comeau put in a quick lap time that allowed him to start second again for Race 2. Comeau claimed a second place finish in that event and had the fastest lap of the race, earning him a pole position for Race 3. Though he started the final race at the front, Comeau ultimately ended up with another second place to round out the weekend and enough points to keep his lead in the 1500 class championship.

Eric Wagner kicked off the weekend by qualifying his #20 T3M/Eastern Racing SR3 1340 Radical on the pole position for Race 1. Like his teammate, Wagner lost a position at the beginning of the race and fought for a finish on the top step of the podium but ended up crossing the finish line in second place.

Unfortunately, Wagner was unable to participate in Sunday’s events, but his podium finish in Race 1 earned him enough points to extend his lead in the 1340 class championship.

“It was a solid weekend for Turn 3 Motorsport,” said Team Owner Peter Dempsey. “Getting to this point in the season, it’s important that we control our leads and finish out the season with consistency to be able to clinch both of the driver championships. The team did a great job over the weekend, and now we are shifting our focus to an important test at Thunderhill Raceway Park on Thursday where we will be doing some tire testing for the 25 Hours of Thunderhill in December. When we return to the workshop, we will continue to work on building the Thunderhill car and getting ready for the final round of the Radical Cup.”

Up next for Eastern Racing and Turn 3 Motorsport is a test at California’s Thunderhill Raceway Park this Thursday to prepare for their entry into the NASA 25 Hours of Thunderhill Presented by Hawk Performance endurance race at the beginning of December. The team made their debut at this event last year, qualifying on pole and finishing fifth overall, making it an event to look forward to returning to in 2019.
