Izzi Gomez Makes History with Gold Medal Win in SUP Surfing at the 2023 Pan American Games
november 1, 2023The Santiago 2023 Pan American Games, held at Punta de Lobos with impressive 10-15 foot waves, featured 88 athletes from 16 countries competing in Shortboard, SUP Surf, SUP Race, and Longboard events. Among them, Eastern-sponsored surfer Isabella Gomez, also known as Izzi Gomez, represented Colombia in the Shortboard and SUP Surf categories. While she missed the podium in Shortboard, Izzi Gomez made history by winning the gold medal in SUP Surfing, earning a total score of 7.93 and outperforming her closest rival, Brazil's Aline Adisaka. Her remarkable victory marked Colombia's first surfing medal at the Pan American Games 2023 and her 13th gold medal for the national delegation. Following this accomplishment, Izzi Gomez announced her retirement from paddle surfing, signaling a transition to the world of big-wave surfing, with a sense of fulfillment and gratitude for her successful career in SUP Surfing.

DECEMBER 3, 2022The 25 Hours of Thunderhill was a disappointment for the Eastern by TVI Racing team. A successful practice on Thursday and Friday as well as the qualifying session on Friday evening had the team hopeful, but with the compounding mechanical issues on the first 1/3 of the race and the Radical #10 needing a new engine, a decision was made to call it and retire the car.
